Torremolinos
Torremolinos is one of the first resorts on the Costa del Sol, with lots of flats in buildings from the 1960s and 70s and plenty of holiday lets. It's about 45 minutes from Marbella, so we usually book the visit for a specific day. I work in La Carihuela, Playamar, Montemar, El Bajondillo and the town centre.

Torremolinos was one of the first places on the coast to be built up, so there are many flats in buildings from the 1960s and 70s, with old risers, water heaters and fuse boards that are long overdue for replacement. Most of the flats by the sea are let to holidaymakers.
Plumbing and electrics in older flats: leaks, blockages, and replacing water heaters and fuse boards. Full flat renovations before letting or selling. Cleaning apartments between guests and, when the interior is being updated, taking away old furniture and appliances.
In older buildings I start by finding the source of a leak so as not to lift more tiles than necessary, and I check that the fuse board can handle a new load, such as air con or a hob. In buildings with a residents' community I do noisy work during the permitted hours.

Our work
We collected a new sofa and wardrobe from a shop in Málaga and carried them up to the fifth floor of a building with no lift. The wardrobe was assembled and fixed to the wall, and we took the packaging away.
All season long we cleaned the apartment after every check-out: fresh linen, kitchen, bathroom and restocked essentials. After each clean the owner got photos on WhatsApp.
