I work to the Spanish REBT wiring regulations and use materials sold locally, so any part can easily be replaced later. We replaced a fuse box from the 1990s, put the kitchen and the air con on separate circuits, and fitted terrace and garden lighting with sensors.

In this 1980s apartment the power tripped every time the air con came on. We fitted a new fuse box with a separate breaker for each circuit and an RCD, checked the earthing and labelled every circuit.

FAQ
Questions and answers
My trip switch goes when I turn on the kettle and the air con. What should I do?
Most likely the circuit is overloaded or your contracted power (potencia contratada) is too low. I'll check the load, split the circuits if needed and tell you whether it's worth asking your supplier for more power.
Do I need an electrical certificate?
For a new installation, a power increase or a change of supplier, you sometimes need an electrical certificate (boletín eléctrico, CIE). We arrange these jobs through an authorised partner, and you get all the paperwork.
Can you come today?
In Marbella and Estepona, often yes. Send me a WhatsApp saying what's happened and I'll tell you straight away when I can be there.
