Benalmádena
Benalmádena is made up of three parts: Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmádena Costa with Puerto Marina, and Benalmádena Pueblo on the mountainside. It's about 40 minutes from Marbella along the Costa del Sol, so we usually book the visit for a specific day.

The town is built on a hillside, and many flats have terraces with sea views. By the sea and around Puerto Marina there are lots of apartments let to holidaymakers. Arroyo de la Miel has more ordinary town flats, while Pueblo and the hills have houses and townhouses.
Repairing and adjusting windows, sliding doors and blinds – on the upper floors by the sea they wear out quickly. Air con cleaning and repairs, electrics and plumbing. Cleaning apartments between guests and fitting out storage rooms.
The streets here are steep and parking by the sea is limited, so I bring large materials and furniture at a convenient time. The salty air quickly damages metal fittings on terraces, rollers and air con outdoor units, so I check these first when I visit.

Our work
We replaced a fuse box from the 1990s, put the kitchen and the air con on separate circuits, and fitted terrace and garden lighting with sensors.

After
The basement trastero was packed with boxes right up to the door. We sorted through everything with the owners, took away what they didn't need, painted the walls and fitted LED lighting and floor-to-ceiling shelving. Every box is now labelled.
Under the roof it got very hot in summer. We installed two split units in the bedrooms, ran the pipework in trunking and put the outdoor units on the roof in line with the community rules.
